Are compatible cartridges inferior to brand name products?
No. There should be no difference in the print quality or page yield of a compatible cartridge. Reputable manufacturers use graphic quality toner and replacement parts that meet or exceed OEM specifications. They also guarantee their products will perform as well or better than brand name cartridges.

How do compatible cartridges help the environment?
Compatible laser cartridges reduce the amount of non-biodegradable plastic in landfills by about 3 lbs. per cartridge and avoid the use of fossil fuels to produce new cartridges.

Can I really save money by using compatible cartridges?
Yes, from 20 to 40 percent. An office using 8-10 printers can save thousands of dollars annually.

Is there a downside to using compatible cartridges?
No. Using compatible cartridges saves money, helps preserve the environment, provides as high a quality product and helps support small, local businesses. A growing number of federal departments and provincial institutions have mandated the use of compatible cartridges.

Why should we recycle?
You don't throw away your printer when it runs out of paper or your car when it runs low on gas, so why throw away a perfectly good print cartridge just because it runs out of toner. Recycling reduces the amount of landfill waste and reduces the amount of raw materials needed to produce new products. In Canada millions of cartridges are sold each year; ¾ are disposed of as waste, the majority for landfill

Why don't more businesses recycle?
In a word-education. Our industry is relatively new; just 30 years old. It is working diligently to educate consumers about the value of compatible cartridges, and today about 30 percent of all businesses use them.

What happens to products that are saved from landfill?
Empty cartridges are collected, checked and graded then prepared for recycling by remanufacturers who will break the cartridge down to its individual components. Each component will be thoroughly checked and cleaned and any parts that are worn and likely to fail are replaced. The policy of replacing and upgrading worn components with parts that are often superior in quality and performance to those in a new cartridge ensures that the print quality and reliability of a recycled or compatible cartridge meets or exceeds original standards.

Will using a recycled toner cartridge void my printer's warranty?
No. It is illegal for a printer manufacturer to void a warranty for using remanufactured cartridges. You are free to use whatever supplies you choose. Recycled cartridges are after all made from the original components in the new cartridges designed for your machine. However, in the exceedingly unlikely event that something does go wrong reputable recycling manufacturers such as Qualtec will always promptly repair or replace your printer at no cost or obligation.
